Tom Slepicka (founder of CookingHub and the CookingHub Foundation) first started publishing his recipes on his blog, cookingwithfamily.com. In 2020, he saw the potential to create a community recipe platform where everyone could enjoy and share recipes: CookingHub.
While CookingHub was being developed, the idea to establish a hunger-fighting charity that would operate the platform arose, and the CookingHub Foundation was established.
Tom’s family’s past struggles with hunger drive his commitment to charitable goals.
Who We Are
CookingHub Foundation is an innovative, multipurpose non-profit organization built by food enthusiasts who want to make a difference. We fight hunger through a unique model that combines community engagement, education, advocacy, and financial support.
Our main activities are:
- Development and operation of CookingHub.com: This community recipe, educational, and social platform is the cornerstone of our hunger-fighting efforts. We pledge to never charge for our services, ensuring a free, inclusive space where every participant helps generate revenue for the cause simply by being part of the movement.
- Education and Content Creation: We provide high-quality content that helps everyone eat better. Our Budget Cooking section is now in full operation, offering specialized recipes and guidance for disadvantaged communities. We provide tips on how to shop on a limited budget and resources to help put more food on the table.
- Advocating for the Cause: We work to spread awareness about hunger issues, encouraging actions such as proper food management, reducing food waste, and sharing nutritious recipes.
- Building Community: We connect people with a passion for food to build a meaningful community that celebrates diversity and food culture while sharing the responsibility in the fight against hunger.
- Donating Proceeds: We donate a significant portion of the proceeds generated from our operations and fundraisers to leading hunger-fighting charities, such as No Kid Hungry, to provide direct aid to those in need.
